Sometimes, the best way to deal with large and difficult foes in LEGO Fortnite is to blow them up with a cannon. As one of the weapon types introduced in the Lost Isles update, cannons are somewhat unconventional compared to typical weapons, as they are not carried in your inventory but rather act as defensive fortifications. They are most effective when placed on top of buildings or vehicles, essentially turning a car into a tank to take down tough enemies like Brutes or Golems.
How to Unlock the Cannon in LEGO Fortnite
To unlock the cannon, you will need to add Blast Powder to your inventory. Once unlocked, gathering the required materials will allow you to craft both the cannon and its ammunition.

- Open the Building Menu and select the cannon from the Toys – General section.
- Collect the required materials, including Copper Bars and Granite, from locations found across the map or during quests.
- Craft cannonballs at the crafting bench to keep your cannon stocked with ammunition.
How to Use the Cannon
While cannons are stationary by default, they work best when mounted on a vehicle. This turns your ride into a mobile artillery unit capable of devastating damage. To arm your cannon and engage in combat:
- Approach the cannon and make sure cannonballs are in your inventory.
- Interact with the cannon (press F on Keyboard, Y or Triangle on controllers) and deposit cannonballs into the available slot.
- Take control of the cannon by boarding the seat (E on Keyboard, X or Square on controllers).
- Fire the cannon using the left mouse button on PC, or the RT/R2 trigger on controllers.
- Adjust the cannon’s angle with W/S keys or the left stick on controllers.
