Henry Cavill Expresses Gratitude for Warhammer 40,000 Amazon Project as ‘the Greatest Privilege of My Professional Career’

Maintain Belief.

Henry Cavill is keeping details of the Amazon Warhammer 40,000 project under wraps, but he emphasizes its significance to him.

In an interview with Josh Horowitz, the star of Argylle, Superman, and The Witcher stated, « It is the greatest privilege of my professional career to have this opportunity. »

Cavill is enthusiastic about the project, saying, « I can’t say too much, again, it’s early days still. But to have this opportunity to bring it to the screen, and be at the tiller so it can be faithful, is key to me. »

Expressing a personal connection, he added, « This is the stuff I’ve been dealing with since I was a kid. This is the stuff I spend my free time daydreaming about, as an adult as well, and I get to bring it into life. There is no greater reason than I joined the industry than doing something like this. »

This opportunity stands as the pinnacle of my professional career.

In late 2022, Amazon Studios announced its acquisition of the Warhammer 40,000 rights, unveiling plans for a « universe of Warhammer programming. » This venture, executive produced by and starring Henry Cavill, gained further momentum when Games Workshop confirmed a « full agreement » contract with Amazon in late 2023, signaling the commencement of the next stage.

Warhammer 40,000, a beloved tabletop wargame universe, depicts a grimdark world where humanity fights for survival amid internal and external threats within the fascist Imperium, with iconic Space Marines at the forefront.

Details about the Warhammer 40,000 Cinematic Universe remain elusive, leaving uncertainty about whether it will debut as a movie or a TV show. Games Workshop has hinted at the possibility of both formats, and a team of screenwriters has been assembled to navigate the creative process.

Henry Cavill, an avid Warhammer 40,000 fan, expressed immense enthusiasm for the project, stating, « I have loved Warhammer since I was a boy, making this moment truly special for me. » He acknowledged the honor and responsibility of shepherding the cinematic universe and thanked Vertigo, Amazon, and Games Workshop for their efforts in bringing the project to fruition.

As for Cavill’s potential role in the Warhammer 40,000 Cinematic Universe, he expressed interest in portraying one of the Primarchs or Captain-Generals, significant figures within the Warhammer lore, during an interview with IGN in 2021.

However, despite the anticipation, the release date for the Warhammer 40,000 movie or show remains uncertain. Cavill is set to commence training for the Highlander reboot, scheduled for release in 2026, diverting his immediate focus.
